The Canvas

With only 50 bags available, Molten is Big Black Tea's first exclusive collaboration with local artists. Jahnathan and Jordan Jones of Los Angeles partnered to tell the story of The Molten Core:

In a far-away world made of caves, caverns, and ravines, the Homo-Geode people build, dig, and mine to survive. Once every century, a prophesied hero is born who wields the power of creation to guide the people of the underground - he or she is called the Molten Core. But one fateful generation, the Molten Core did not appear. The caves fell into chaos, and their memory faded into myth. Now, a brave and adventurous young boy named Ignus - the new Molten Core - and his Tunnel Beast must journey through the treacherous caverns to save the Homo-Geode before its too late.

The Artists

Jahnathan Jones, an 18-year old graphic design student at California State University Northridge, aspires to create artwork that will entertain and captivate. He loves observing and then imagining the world through different ways to create new animals, culture, and technology. His goal? To have more opportunities like this one.

Jordan Jones, a 16-year old commissioned writer, develops stories that offer an escape into a vivid world of wonder. As a student at Fairfax Senior High, he's studied numerous pieces of fiction to hone his attention to detail and pacing. "Good fiction is only good when the audience can somehow believe the fantastical events are grounded in some way, and presented in a way that does not confuse them."

Jasmine Garland, owner of TranquiliTea House, is an Atlanta-based master tea craftswoman. For as long as she can remember, Jasmine wanted to run a tea cafe. Previously a Pennsylvania-based brick and mortar teahouse, TranquiliTea operates remotely from Atlanta and specializes in hand-blended, full-leaf teas and tisanes carefully made in small batches. All teas are all custom made and cannot be found anywhere else.
